Every 5 minutes our system sends an e-mail to your mail server and the server is asked to respond to say it received it. We also check that FTP services are running as they should be, that password protected pages on your site are secure, that any domain re-direction is working as it should be, that SSL certificates are valid and, well, the list goes on.
