ClarityWEB have recently launched a fantastic free website promoting the 'what's on' events of Newcastle. Free for all to use, business or tourist, the website allows users to register, post and browse events in the region.

Immediate Impact

After completing alot of research into competitor sites offering a similar service to what Events in Newcastle provides, one thing became instantly apparent. There was a gap in the market for a visually appealing website.

Our graphic designers set around creating a website that instantly provided the visitor with the 'wow' factor.

Using a beautiful fusion of iconic imagery and landmarks coupled with subtle colours and graphics we have invented a strong appealing theme for the site that represents both the Newcastle region and the instant impact that we were looking for. Strong silhouettes are brought to life by the use of colour splashes, again emphasised by a very light grey background.

This colour is further emphasised by the use of colour coding for the event categories within the site design.

Key Features of the Site

The main feature of the Events in Newcastle website is the ability of user creation to post free events, and how to handle the running / re-running of regular events.

There is a login facility, a record of all events posted for each user and the ability to create and edit events from a user account. Each event created is added to a moderation queue for approval by the site administrators to avoid the addition of fake events.

There is also the ability for the user to review events by a host of search methods, from 'upcoming' events, events this month or for any of the 12 months ahead via the monthly calendar in the header design. There is also an advanced search where users can review events by date, area, location, venue or price and any combination.

The user also has the ability to print a friendly version of the details for any particular event, as well as to share the specific event on the two major social networking sites that Events in Newcastle is on : Facebook and Twitter.
