Full eCommerce Website Design
With over 40 stores, The Bed Shed are one of the largest and most respected bed retailers in the UK.
ClarityWEB were commissioned to deliver a brand new ecommerce website from design through to live-date with continued support in respect of web graphic design, search engine optimisation, administrative support and hosting.
One of the key features of the new website was to be the promotional tools available in the Administration module to the client. Our policy of design custom written content management systems meant we were able to meet the very specific needs of the client without compromise.
Graphically Attractive with Corporate Colours
The new site saw the introduction of periodical, offer related, Flash animations to the site homepage, an improved navigational system and more areas of general interest for visitors to browse.
A graphically attractive theme draws on the bright contrasting colours of The Bed Shed whilst allowing very ways of finding products and promotes the company ethic of value-added features with Facebook and Twitter feeds directly accessible from the site.
Feature Packed Website
Features that were custom written for The Bed Shed include:
- Store Locator by postcode with a ‘miles to store’ distance indicator
- Store profiles with photograph capability and Contact Store Manager facility
- Flash animations controlled by the CMS with other static graphics controlled by the same module but drawn into multiple locations throughout the site
- Fully featured Careers section with application form download and CV upload system
- Packaged product offers controlled by the CMS
- YMAL (You May Also Like) linkage driven by the CMS
- Associated Products controlled by the administration system
- Time and date based promotional campaigns fully automated by the central administration module
- Selectable price changes with multi-click and multi-select capability for ease of site management, allowing large scale product or range changes with minimal time overhead for the client
- Voucher discount system
- One-click across the board delivery type change via the CMS
- News section using bold, bright graphics with ‘snippet’ teaser paragraphs leading into the main body of content
Custom Icon Creation
Another aspect of the site that delivers almost unique attention to detail was the design of a vast number of custom icons. These graphics are shown against core product features, categories and sub categories so that the visitor has an immediate ‘At a glance’ reference point.
Examples of these include the bed frame type, the size of beds, colours, child-safe features, storage types and storage capacity with many, many more. Anyone browsing through the site can’t fail to be impressed by the amount of icons that were given attention (100+ in total).
Product Detail
A full product zoom feature that loads quickly was added to every product page. Working across browsers, this feature allows a customer to see a more detailed view of their chosen item without having to wait for a new page to load.
Product specification can be printed out with a single click and we also built a product comparison feature for up to 3 products at any one time – again accessible with minimum fuss.
Breadcrumb Navigation
Breadcrumb navigation is consistent through the site product pages as is a simple to use sort method that allows the visitor view products in alphabetical or price order in both directions.
Total Control
The client has control over almost all aspects of the site down to details such as Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and the Distance Selling Policy all being configurable using the custom written administration module.
FAQ’s, News items, graphics, categories, sub-categories and products are all administered from the content module.
The module also controls every element of the site down to the finer points such as Store Manager contact details and any comments required against stores such as adjusted opening times for Bank Holidays.
Rapid Development and Results
Delivered in 8 weeks from start to finish, The Bed Shed site returned rises of over 35% in unique visitor hits after it’s first month live and over 60% increase in pageviews.
Visitor time on site increased, the bounce rate decreased and the number of new visitors has continued to increase week on week.
