Apple iPhone 4G pictures leaked

Hot on the heels of the clamour for the Apple iPad, pictures have been leaked of the rumoured Apple iPhone 4G. Sporting a very nice looking aluminium case, they certainly appear to be the real deal whilst Apple have not confirmed this.

If you believe the rumours then the new iPhone will be unveiled in June 2010 and will come with a greatly improved 8mp camera (with flash), more storage space and a second front facing camera - and that would suggest webcam use on a network such as 4G.

Ironically, the first iPhones featured aluminium casing and the new iPad looks very sleek in aluminium - so it would appear, if this picture is accurate, that Apple may well be about to standardise units.

Does 4G matter?

With speeds of 100mbps, yes it matters a lot. 4G will move data transmission and mobile devices to the next level and unleash a vast range of uses that many consider only viable on WiFi at present.

4G is in use in Sweden, in limited locations, already. Initial tests show that downloads of 43mbps are achieved with an upstream rate of over 5mbps.

Speeds like that, comparable with cable services in the UK such as Virgin XXL 50mb into homes, mean that the ability to watch movies-on-the move becomes reality although the roll out of the network will no doubt take a good few years for reasonable coverage to be achieved.
