How much does an Apple iPad cost?
The pricing for Apple's much anticipated iPad for the UK market have been leaked - or at least that is the rumour. They're more than we and many others had hoped, but remember these are the alleged prices and Apple won't confirm them as of yet.
The Pricing
iPad 16gb - £389.00
iPad 32gb - £439.00
iPad 64gb - £489.00
iPad 16gb 3G - £499.00
iPad 32gb 3G - £549.00
iPad 64gb 3G - £599.00
Bearing in mind that the first section of the above list is non-3G models, we don't see the iPad getting off to the best of starts. The 3G prices aren't exactly bargain basement either, but this isn't a bargain basement device.
Is it worth £600 for a 64gb netbook with the best interface in the world though? Right now, we'll reserve judgement.
Expensive?
It's our opinion that these prices don't look particularly good. In fact they look positively bad for the non-3G models.
You do have to consider the hype and attention this device has received though and Apple will be keen to capitalise on that whilst it can. Not known for the cheapest of prices, they were never going to bring the iPad to the UK at a price that reflected the exchange rate - because if they had they'd have been considerably cheaper.
All we can do now is wait and hope that most of the prices are out by around £50 per model.
Don't hold your breath though. Our sources suggest these prices are, allegedly, as near as spot-on as you're likely to get.
