The UK's Most Searched For Electronics Products - August 2009

It's been a while since we have given you one of our popular 'most searched for' lists so this one brings you the very latest results for the hottest products online in August.

It won't come as any surprise to our regular readers to know that Apples iPod remains the most searched for product in the UK. On the last 30 days data it continues to hold its own and doesn't look like giving up the No.1 slot any time soon.

The good old 'TV' comes in at No.2 but it is interesting to note that the more specific search term of 'LCD TV' is at No.4. Perhaps the UK consumer is becoming a little better at narrowing their search terms (something they've never been very good at).

Splitting the TV's at No.3 is the 'laptop'. Just plain old 'laptop' - maybe we're not getting much better after all!

The 'iPod Touch is at No.5 with a newcomer at No.6 being 'printer'.

Acer continue to be the product of choice for many with the 'acer aspire' being a newcomer to the top ten at No.7. Another new entry is 'speakers' at No. 8.

'Monitor' drops down to No.9 and there is another showing to close the list for Apple with the 'ipod nano' at No.10.

The items that are breaking through as rapidly rising searches make for interesting reading this time though. 'A3 printer' makes a first every appearance at the head of the list with 'hp c4480' and 'hp c4580' coming in at No.2 and No.3 respectively (both of them being Hewlett Packard printers).

Sony sees it's Bravia at No.4 with 'sony bravia 32' and the 'nokia e51', and 'cheap ipod touch' are seeing similar levels of demand.

The new LED technologies in the television market have seen 'led tv' enter the breakthrough list at No. 7 with a 50% increase in searches. That's also the same rise in popularity seen by 'ipod classic 80gb', '50 plasma' and '26 lcd tv' at the end of the top ten of breakthrough items.

Other Sectors

The computing and electronics sector has long been dominated by iPod products for searches.

However, when you take a look at other sectors you still see some very familiar names holding their own at the top of their respective lists.
