We ran an article similar to this last month and it proved very popular, so it’s time to revisit it again.
Searches online for images change dramatically. News stories influence user searches heavily and there is always a plethora of interest in the latest actor or actress launched on the big screen.
However, the searches over the last 30 days reveal truly global image interests. So, here it is, the hottest image searches online over the last 30 days:
1. Alexander Rybak (+3750%)
2. FC Barcelona (+100%)
3. New Moon (+100%)
4. Adam Lambert (+90%)
5. Star Trek (+70%)
6. Rihanna (+60%)
7. Messi (+60%)
8. Hadise (+60%)
9. Eminem (+50%)
10. Barcelona (+50%)
For those that don’t know, Alexander Rybak was the 2009 winner of the Eurovision Song Contest. The Norwegian singer/violinist ran away with this years competition with a record points total.
FC Barcelona is no real surprise, nor is the city of Barcelona at No.10. Beating the reigning World and European Champions, Manchester United, 2-0 in the Champions League Final in Rome assured them of being much in demand. Their diminutive in size by colossal in skill star, Lionel Messi, also saw his search value increase dramatically (No. 7).
You might be thinking that New Moon is an odd one to figure in the list? Not really, it is the sub-title of the sequel to Twilight, a smash hit movie.
Adam Lambert was the runner up of American Idol 2009. The 27 year old was pipped to the winning post by Kris Allen (who oddly enough figures nowhere in the fastest rising searches).
The release of the latest Star Trek movie accounts for its entry and seemingly huge popularity.
Rihanna has long since been a popular name in the search stakes. However, her increasing demand in May 2009 may be related to the fact that it was alleged nude photographs of her had been leaked online. Nobody really knows if the person in the photographs was Rihanna or not. Oh, and no, we’ve not seen them.
Hadise is a rapidly rising star. The Belgian born singer represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest this year and attracted a new fan base (for images at least!).
American rapper Eminem is no newcomer to image searches. The release of his new album saw searches rise – in addition to an encounter with Sasha Baron Cohen in a staged stunt at the MTV Awards recently.
We’ll keep you up to date with what happens in the next 30 days!
It seems only right that we give you an update on image searching over the last year.
Over the last 12 months, this is how the top ten hottest risers look now:
1. Lady Gaga
2. Robert Pattinson
3. Twilight
4. Obama
5. Facebook
6. Jonas
7. Jonas Brothers
8. Batman
9. Miley Cyrus
10. Megan Fox
President Barack Obama had been in the list throughout 2008, unsurprisingly, as had Megan Fox, Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers (though Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers have dropped down the list since).
Twilight seems to the ever popular image search when everything is taken into account. We had no idea how much impact the movie had made, but it has clearly whipped up a strong teen following.
